But Hollywood does rewrite history - as does everyone else in the 
entertainment industry, wherever they are located.  Of course, some examples 
of rewriting are more egregious than others.
In fairness to The Sound Barrier, it wasn't billed as factual or based on 
true story.  It was a self-confessed piece of fiction which simply took 
advantage of developments in aviation at the time and public interest 
therein.
And the film was gracious enough to include, as part of the cast list, the 
aircraft which featured in it (Comet, Attacker, Vampire and Swift).
